Nigerian actor Deyemi Okanlawon has sparked widespread reactions on social media after revealing that he would have no problem becoming a house husband if his wife earned significantly more money than him, according to report by LEADERSHIP on Thursday May 14 2026.
The actor made the statement during a recent episode of the “TEAWITHTAYPOD” podcast hosted by media personality Taymesan, where discussions focused on marriage, finances, and changing gender roles in modern relationships.
Speaking during the conversation, Okanlawon said he would willingly step away from his acting career if his wife earned between $1 million and $10 million annually. According to him, he sees nothing wrong with a woman becoming the major provider in the family if the arrangement benefits the home and brings stability.
The actor explained that he does not believe marriage should be treated as a competition over who earns more money. Instead, he stressed that mutual understanding, partnership, and the overall wellbeing of the family should remain the priority in any relationship.
