Omotola Jalade Ekeinde, a Nollywood actress, has stated that she did not have a good relationship with her mother while she was growing up and even believed for a long time that her mother hated her.
In an interview with Yanga FM Nigeria, Omotola said she hated her mother for many years. She stated that it was only after she got married and became a mother herself that she began to understand her mother better.
Omotola said becoming a parent helped her see things from her mother’s point of view and changed how she felt. She stated that she lost her mother in 2021, at a time when they had started to settle their differences and their relationship was improving
In Omotola’s words: “I thought my mother hated me, to be honest I hated her for a long time when I was growing up. It took me getting married and become a mother too myself for me to now start to understand her and all of that. And my own daughter too, I and her have had our own quarrel. I lost my mother in 2021.
