Former Rivers State Commissioner for Information, Austin Tam-George, has explained why he resigned from the administration of former governor Nyesom Wike.
Speaking during an interview on Arise News, Tam-George said he disagreed with Wike’s style of governance and political philosophy while serving in the government.
According to him, his understanding of public service was different from the approach of the former governor. He said he believed government officials should focus on serving the people, while he felt the administration was moving in a direction he could not support.
Tam-George stated that after taking the oath of office, he worked for the interest of Rivers people during his time in government. However, he said he later realised that he and Wike were ideologically different and could no longer work together.
The former commissioner noted that his resignation from the administration became necessary because of those differences. He added that the decision was already part of the public record.
Tam-George also said he still considers it his responsibility to speak whenever he believes democracy and the will of the people in Rivers State are being threatened.
In his words, “As soon as I discovered that we were completely ideologically opposed, I left the government.”…….See More
