Obi: Atiku Is A Man Who Looks For Sound People; If You Are Sound, He Will Be Carried Away -Okonkwo

In a recent interview on Symfoni TV, Kenneth Okonkwo, a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), spoke on coalition politics, leadership perceptions, and the evolving relationships among Nigeria’s opposition figures ahead of the 2027 general elections.

During the interview, Okonkwo stated, “Atiku Abubakar is a man who looks for sound people; if you are sound, he will be carried away.” He made the remark while discussing political alignments and the influence of key opposition leaders in shaping coalition structures.

He referenced former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, describing him as a political figure who is often drawn to individuals perceived as competent and strategically valuable within party structures.

Okonkwo explained that coalition politics in Nigeria is heavily influenced by the search for capable allies, where political actors align based on perceived strength, influence, and electoral advantage rather than ideology alone.

He noted that these dynamics are particularly visible ahead of major elections, as parties and alliances reposition themselves in preparation for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) primaries and the 2027 general elections.

According to him, opposition politics remains fluid, with shifting alliances reflecting broader efforts to consolidate power and improve electoral competitiveness.

Okonkwo maintained that the African Democratic Congress (ADC) continues to focus on internal stability and strategic organisation despite ongoing realignments within the opposition space.

He concluded by stating that understanding the motivations behind political partnerships is essential to interpreting Nigeria’s evolving coalition landscape, especially as parties prepare for a highly competitive election cycle…….See More
