In an interview on State Affairs show with Edmund Obilo, Juliet Ogbogu, a former head teacher of All Saints College in Ibadan, stated that her family fled from Umuahia to the Ikwerre area during the Biafran War.
Ogbogu said when their food finished, her mother became deeply worried and distressed. She said her mother had to sell her clothes and jewelry just to feed the family. She added that her mother set out to buy food in Otuocha but did not return for a long time and they thought she had died.
In Ogbogu’s words: “When the food we took from Umuahia finished my mother became worried and disturbed so she had to sell her clothing and jewelry to feed us, and partly to make enough money to travel to Otuocha in Anambra where she can buy food at a cheaper rate. She did not come back, we thought she was dead. For months we did not see her, and she did not bring food home”…….See More
