Nollywood actress and entrepreneur Olaide Oyedeji recently opened up about her personal life and past relationships in a candid interview on the Talk-to-B podcast with host Abiola Adebayo. The actress reflected on lessons learned from her romantic experiences, emphasizing the importance of self-awareness and personal boundaries.
Oyedeji recounted her early adulthood as a period filled with both challenges and growth. She shared that moving from Nigeria to Germany at a young age and becoming a mother shortly thereafter required her to mature quickly. “I had to stop being a child or a teenager. I had to move into the shoes of being an adult,” she explained, noting that the experience shaped her resilience and determination. She credited her upbringing and the values instilled in her for helping her navigate life’s challenges while remaining grounded and focused.
Reflecting on her past relationships, Oyedeji admitted to making decisions she now considers mistakes. “I think I owe my ex an apology… I should never have said yes to him because I knew we were not compatible,” she said. The actress explained that, in hindsight, she realized that attempting to change someone or hoping they would eventually become “Mr. Right” is unrealistic. She emphasized that it was her responsibility to recognize her own needs and wait for a partner who aligned with her values and goals.
Oyedeji also spoke about the broader lessons her experiences taught her about love, self-respect, and accountability. She urged listeners, particularly young women, to set expectations and boundaries in their relationships, emphasizing that compromise should not come at the expense of personal dignity. “You have to know your worth and what you truly want before saying yes,” she stated, highlighting the importance of thoughtful decision-making in romantic engagements.
During the interview, she recounted how her journey to self-realization has been ongoing, involving reflection, forgiveness, and acceptance. By openly admitting her past missteps, Oyedeji hopes to inspire others to learn from their own experiences without shame. Her openness about personal mistakes underscores her belief that growth comes from acknowledging errors and taking responsibility for one’s actions.
Oyedeji’s interview also shed light on her entrepreneurial pursuits, revealing how balancing business, motherhood, and personal development has taught her time management, resilience, and prioritization. She described her ventures as avenues to channel her creativity, independence, and ambition while also providing for her family……See More
