Yoruba Nollywood actress Victoria Ajibola, popularly known as Omo Local, has recounted a harrowing experience involving sexual assault and physical violence allegedly committed by her superior in the film industry. In an emotional interview with Oyinmomo TV, Ajibola described the incident as a traumatic turning point in her early career in Lagos.
Ajibola explained that the incident occurred after she attended rehearsals for a film project. Following the rehearsal, her boss asked her to remain behind, leading her to believe the conversation would be related to her work. “I thought he wanted to have a discussion with me,” she said, describing the initial moment as seemingly professional and routine.
The situation quickly escalated when her boss allegedly attempted to coerce her into sexual activity. Ajibola recounted that she resisted his advances, insisting on her refusal. “He tried to sleep with me, but I said no,” she explained. The confrontation then turned violent, with her boss physically assaulting her and inflicting injuries on her face.
In Ajibola’s words, “I was beaten and wounded on my face,” she said, revealing the severity of the attack. She described the fear and shock she experienced during the encounter, noting that she was overwhelmed by the aggression and the threat to her safety.
At a certain point, Ajibola admitted that she considered giving in to end the ordeal, fearing for her life. “At the end of the day, I gave up the fight and released myself for him to… so I could survive,” she said. However, she added that the assailant, exhausted from the prolonged struggle, ultimately could not proceed with the act. “By the time he wanted to get to it, maybe because he had really stressed himself, he couldn’t continue,” Ajibola explained.
Throughout the interview, Ajibola emphasized her decision not to disclose the identity of the individual involved, citing their prominence in the film industry and the potential professional repercussions. She said her priority was to raise awareness about the risks faced by actors, particularly young women starting their careers, rather than seeking public retribution……See More
