Veteran Yoruba Nollywood actor Olanrewaju Omiyinka, popularly known as Baba Ijesha, opened up about a painful chapter in his personal life involving his former wife and a trip abroad that ended their marriage.
Speaking in an interview on Talk to B podcast hosted by actress Biola Adebayo, he revealed that their union began without any major issues.
His wife later expressed a desire to pursue a master’s degree in the United Kingdom, prompting him to fully support her ambitions.
He handled the financial aspects by purchasing her flight ticket, assisting with visa processing, and covering all necessary arrangements to facilitate her departure from Nigeria.
However, after she arrived in the UK, he discovered that the educational pursuit had been a pretext.
Unbeknownst to him, she had been involved with another man, using the opportunity to reunite with him for personal reasons rather than academic ones.
His words: “There was no problem with my marriage from the start. After the wedding, my wife told me she wanted to go for her master’s in the UK. So I bought her ticket, processed her visa, and did everything necessary. She then left Nigeria for the UK. Unknown to me, it was a setup.
