Michael Ogunkanmi and his wife, Akintomide, a blind couple, have explained how they support each other in managing their home despite being unable to see.
According to a report by VANGUARD, on Saturday, September 26, 2026, the couple said they rely on memory, touch and teamwork to carry out their daily activities.
Michael said they do things together at home and help each other with tasks. He explained that whenever one of them does not know how to do something, the other person teaches and guides them.
He also said they keep household items in specific places so they can easily find them. Whenever an item is moved, the other person is informed to avoid confusion.
Michael said their children also assist them whenever they come across things they cannot identify. He explained that they call the children to ask what an item is, and the children help them identify it.
In Michael’s words: “Even though we cannot see, we do things together. If she is doing something and I don’t know how to do it, she will teach me. That is how we help each other at home.”
