Former Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Farouk Aliyu, has sent a sobering message to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other Nigerian leaders, reminding them that power is transient and that a day will come when they will move around unnoticed.
Speaking on Naija Unfiltered with Olawale Oluwade on SYMFONI TV, Aliyu cited former leaders like Abdulsalami, Gowon, Obasanjo, Jonathan and Babangida who now only bear the title “former”, warning that the same fate awaits every leader including the president.
He urged those in office to be mindful of their actions, reminding them that one day they will leave power and walk into places where nobody will recognise them.
In Aliyu’s words: “I want Tinubu to think. We have General Abdulsalami, we have Gowon, we have Obasanjo, we have Jonathan, Babangida, they are there. It’s just the title former. They will go to places, some don’t even know them. A time will come when Tinubu comes somewhere, nobody will know him. So I want leaders, including my leader the president, to know that this power is transient.”
