Speaking during an interview on Arise News, Anambra State Commissioner for Information, Dr. Law Mefor, spoke about the financial liabilities inherited by the administration of Governor Chukwuma Soludo, following comments made by the state Commissioner for Finance, Mr. Izuchukwu Moses Okafor, during a podcast appearance.
Mefor said Okafor discussed the financial liabilities handed down to the Soludo administration but did not specifically mention former Anambra State Governor and NDC presidential candidate, Peter Obi, adding that Obi subsequently responded to the discussion and reiterated his earlier claims about the financial position of his administration.
According to Mefor, Obi had maintained that he left no financial liabilities, loans, salary arrears, gratuities or pension obligations, but the commissioner said the Anambra State Government disagreed with those claims.
In Mefor’s words: “Our Commissioner for Finance, Mr. Izuchukwu Moses Okafor, appeared on a podcast where he talked about the financial liabilities handed down to the Soludo government. He didn’t call out Peter Obi. But Peter Obi picked that up and started making further claims, reiterating claims he made earlier that he had no financial liabilities, no loans, no salary arrears, no gratuities, and no pensions. These things are not true. The facts and records are there.”
