Speaking during an interview on Lucky Udu Experience, a victim of Boko Haram abduction recounted how he and other passengers were travelling en route to Maiduguri when their vehicle was forced to slow down while passing through a pothole, creating an opportunity for the armed men to approach them and take control of the situation.
The victim said the passengers suddenly saw Boko Haram members emerging in numbers, explaining that there were six of them at the time and that their appearance immediately created fear among those inside the vehicle, particularly because one of the men positioned himself directly in front of the car while carrying a weapon that the victim described as resembling an RPG.
In his words: “Our vehicle was just going through a pothole because we had to slow down. We saw Boko Haram members came out in numbers. There were six of them at that time. They came out, and the person who even scared us was the one who first stood in front of the car holding this RPG, the one that you see in movies that’s like a bomb.”
