A bread-inspired outfit worn by Big brother naija star Queen Mercy Atang, at the 12th edition of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) has continued to generate conversation after commentators discussed the creativity and controversy surrounding the unusual fashion statement.
During a recent episode of Rubbin’ Minds on Channels Television, host Isabella and commentator Abdul Hakim Ogundipe analyzed some of the most talked-about looks from the event, including the viral bread-themed outfit.
According to the discussion, the woman behind the look reportedly owns a bakery and used the AMVCA red carpet as an opportunity to creatively promote her business.
Ogundipe described the outfit as “very beautiful,” explaining that significant artistry and creativity went into making the faux bread design appear realistic and visually striking.
He defended the concept by arguing that the AMVCA has evolved into a platform similar to the Met Gala, where celebrities and creatives use fashion to make bold statements and attract attention.
According to him if a bakery owner wanted to “sell her market” by showcasing bread-inspired fashion at such a major entertainment event, there was nothing wrong with it.
The conversation also included humorous reactions, with the hosts joking that guests attending the long award ceremony could simply take bread from the outfit if they became hungry.
However, the discussion later shifted toward a more serious perspective. Isabella J questioned whether using food-themed fashion could appear insensitive in a society where many people are struggling with hunger, unemployment, and economic hardship.
The debate highlighted the growing tension between artistic expression and public sensitivity, especially as celebrity fashion at major African events continues becoming more daring and unconventional…….See More
