Nollywood veteran Toyin Adewale, popularly known as Mimi and mother of music superstar Mayorkun, has revealed that she began collecting professional acting fees as far back as 1988, starting her career on the Lagos State Council for Arts and Culture stage.
Speaking on Talk to B, she recalled her first major professional outing at NAFADA 88, held in Kaduna, where she received a 5,000 naira fee, was given clothes and enjoyed quality food and accommodation. She said it was that experience that confirmed her love for the profession and launched her into home video work.
In Mimi’s words: “I started precisely professionally, when I started collecting money, it was 1988. We went for NAFADA 88. It happened in Kaduna. We spent ourselves there together.
