We Urge Obi To Relinquish His ADC Membership Within 72hrs, Identify Alternative Party -Ohanaeze Youth

‎According to a report by Leadership, on Saturday April 25, 2026, the Ohanaeze Youth Council has issued an ultimatum to former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi, asking him to leave the African Democratic Congress within 72 hours as political tensions rise ahead of the 2027 elections.

‎At a press briefing, the group’s president, Igboayaka O. Igboayaka, said Obi should immediately resign his membership of the African Democratic Congress, he argued that the move would allow Obi to properly position himself for the 2027 presidential race.

‎He added that Obi must join another political platform if he intends to contest the election, the council insisted that the 72-hour deadline is important and should be taken seriously by the politician and his supporters.

‎The group linked its demand to ongoing concerns about internal conflicts within opposition parties, it said disputes within party structures could weaken opposition strength ahead of the next general election.

‎According to OYC, unclear arrangements within political parties often create confusion for aspirants, it warned that failure to address such issues early may affect the chances of credible opposition candidates, the council maintained that its position was aimed at ensuring a more organized political environment going into 2027.

‎Peter Obi, who was a major contender in the 2023 presidential election, has remained a key figure in opposition politics, the OYC warned that delayed decisions by politicians like him could affect strategic planning ahead of 2027.

‎The group suggested that clear party alignment is necessary for serious candidates, it said that uncertainty within party membership could create setbacks for broader opposition negotiations and insisted that decisive action would help reduce political tension and improve coordination.
