Peter Obi, a former presidential candidate for the Labour Party, has spoken out against the continued arrest of Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, a former governor of Kaduna State, over allegations of corruption.
The authorities, according to Obi’s argument on Arise TV, have done things the wrong way. The invitation came while he was overseas. El-Rufai returned to you freely, set a date, and you attempted to apprehend him at the airport. It does not make sense to me that you are arresting him just because he said something on TV,” he remarked.
Instead of creating what he called needless public spectacle, Obi said that the proper course of action is to investigate, construct a case, go to court, and collect the cash through due procedure if there is real proof of financial mismanagement in Kaduna State.
