I Wasn’t Born In Nigeria, But I Could Speak Yoruba Fluently Before I Even Understood English-Abiodun

Bamidele Abiodun, wife of Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun, says she grew up in Ibadan and learned Yoruba before she learned English, even though she was not born in Nigeria.

Speaking with Morayo Afolabi on THE MORAYO SHOW, Mrs Abiodun explained that she considers herself an Ibadan girl because she attended primary school, secondary school and university there. She clarified that while her place of birth was not Ibadan, she was raised in the city.

She also said her parents taught her Yoruba from a very early age, so she could speak the language fluently before she understood English.

Here’s what he said,

“I’m proudly an Ibadan girl. I went to primary school, secondary school and university in Ibadan. I wasn’t born in Ibadan, but I was raised in Ibadan. I also proudly say that Yoruba was my first language. I don’t know how my parents did it; I wasn’t born in Nigeria, but I could speak Yoruba fluently before I could even understand English.”…..See More
