A parent of one of the students reportedly kidnapped during the recent bandit attack on 3 schools in Ahoro-Esinele, Ogbomoso, Oyo State, identified as Iya Muheez, has shared her painful experience following the disappearance of her child after the incident.
Speaking during an interview on the WithChude podcast, the distraught mother recounted how her son had left home for school like every other normal day before news broke that armed kidnappers had invaded the school premises. According to her, the family immediately launched a desperate search for the child, hoping he had escaped and hidden somewhere nearby.
The attack, which reportedly occurred during school hours, has sparked widespread fear and concern within the community, as families continue to search for missing children and await updates on their whereabouts.
Narrating the incident, Iya Muheez said her son had eaten breakfast and gone to school earlier that morning without any sign of danger.
“He left for school immediately after taking his breakfast. Around 11am, we got news that kidnappers invaded the school. We searched for my children thinking maybe he was hiding in the bush all to no avail. I have not seen since Friday,” she said emotionally during the interview.
Her account highlights the trauma being faced by parents and relatives of students affected by the attack. Many families are reportedly struggling with uncertainty and fear as efforts continue to locate the abducted children.
