In a recent video on Facebook on Sunday, May 24, 2026, Primate Elijah Ayodele, has raised concerns over the continuous killing of Nigerian soldiers by terrorists and armed groups, questioning the effectiveness of the country’s military leadership.

Ayodele, who spoke during a recent address shared by his media team, lamented the growing attacks on military formations and personnel across parts of the country. According to him, the persistent loss of soldiers has become alarming and requires urgent action from the nation’s security chiefs.

“Every day they kill our soldiers. What’s the work of the Chief of Army Staff, what are they doing?” the cleric asked while reacting to the worsening insecurity situation in the country.

The prophet stressed that the repeated attacks on military personnel show that more proactive measures are needed to tackle insurgency, banditry and terrorism. He warned that the security situation could deteriorate further if urgent steps are not taken by the authorities.

Ayodele also accused some military leaders of not doing enough to protect officers and soldiers on the frontlines. He said the Nigerian Army must improve intelligence gathering and strengthen security around military bases to prevent surprise attacks from terrorists.

In a previous statement, the cleric warned that insurgents were planning more assaults on military formations and advised the military hierarchy to remain vigilant. He noted that terrorists were becoming bolder because of weaknesses within the security system.

The spiritual leader further urged the Federal Government to prioritize the welfare of soldiers fighting insurgency across different parts of the country. According to him, troops risking their lives to defend Nigeria deserve better support, motivation and protection from authorities.

Ayodele maintained that insecurity has become one of the biggest challenges facing the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, warning that failure to address it decisively could have political consequences in the future.

The cleric had earlier called for a more active and responsive military leadership, insisting that Nigerians expect visible results from security agencies amid daily reports of attacks and killings.
