Richard Mofe-Damijo, veteran Nigerian actor and writer, has disclosed how personal tragedy influenced his decision to study law.
In an interview on WITHCHUDE podcast, Mofe-Damijo explained that his mother always wanted him to become a lawyer as her only child, but he initially resisted. He said the death of his wife in 1996 made him reconsider, and he eventually enrolled at the University of Lagos (UNILAG), where he sat for the qualifying exams required at the time.
Mofe-Damijo noted that law had always been close to him, but the painful experience gave him clarity and motivation to pursue it formally.
Here’s what he said,
“As an only child, my mom wanted me to be a lawyer. I just thought it wasn’t for me. Then tragedy struck in 1996—I lost my wife. That was when it made sense to revisit the law. By the time we were doing law then, you needed to write exams, so I went to UNILAG and sat for the exam.”……See More
