In 2015, There Was Nothing We Didn’t Hear Jonathan Must Be Voted Out, Buhari Came, And It’s Worse -Mallam

Global Mission Leader and Social Justice and Peace Advocate, Rev. Gideon Para-Mallam, has criticised the state of insecurity in Nigeria, saying many citizens who demanded a change of government in 2015 later witnessed a worsening security situation under former President Muhammadu Buhari.

Para-Mallam made the remarks during an interview on Channels Television while reflecting on the country’s security challenges and public expectations during the 2015 presidential election.

According to the cleric, many Nigerians strongly opposed the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan because of concerns over insecurity and governance, believing a new government would bring significant improvements.

“In 2015 there was nothing we didn’t hear that Jonathan must be voted out. Then Buhari came in and it’s worse,” Para-Mallam said during the interview.

He noted that Nigerians expected tougher and more effective action against insurgency, banditry and violent crimes when Buhari, a retired military general, assumed office.

However, Para-Mallam argued that insecurity continued to spread in several parts of the country during the Buhari administration, with many communities experiencing attacks, kidnappings and displacement.

The peace advocate stated that the security crisis had affected both urban and rural communities, particularly in the North-East and North-Central regions where residents repeatedly suffered violent attacks from insurgents and bandits.

He stressed that political leaders must move beyond campaign promises and focus on practical solutions capable of restoring public confidence in the nation’s security system.
