Speaking during an interview on Channels Television, Kenneth Okonkwo, a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), shared his views on issues surrounding electoral discussions, referencing Joash Amupitan.
Okonkwo spoke on the interpretation of information circulating in the public space, noting that clarity and accuracy are important when discussing matters related to the electoral process. His remarks come amid ongoing conversations about the role of institutions and the importance of public trust.
According to him, “Because if a professor of law who claims to be a SAN is interpreting the judgment of a court that is nonexistent, then he is a man of questionable integrity. Can you imagine Joash Amupitan telling you that it’s a parody account? Who knew Joash Amupitan before he became INEC Chairman? I have never heard of the name. So who would go and build parody accounts in his name, and to do what with it?”
He explained that his comments were aimed at highlighting concerns about how information is presented and understood by the public. Okonkwo noted that accurate communication is essential in maintaining confidence in democratic institutions.
