Abayomi Arabambi, a member of the Labour Party, has alleged that former Anambra State Governor and NDC presidential candidate Peter Obi opened multiple bank accounts after returning from an overseas fundraising trip during the 2023 election campaign.
Speaking in a video posted on Symfoni, Arabambi claimed that members of the Labour Party were unaware of the financial arrangements being made during the campaign. He alleged that campaign structures and fundraising activities were managed outside the party’s knowledge and that party officials only became aware of certain financial transactions when withdrawals were to be made.
Arabambi further claimed that meetings were held to prepare campaign budgets, adding that he still possesses photographs from one of the meetings.
According to him, “We never knew what they wanted to do. Off abroad with Abure, they went and solicited for funds. Immediately he came back; he opened an account with Zenith, Globus, Access, and Fidelity. We have the account number.”
Arabambi alleged that the accounts were opened without the knowledge of the party leadership and claimed that the Labour Party was not fully involved in the management of campaign funds. He argued that the party only became aware of the accounts after issues arose regarding access to the funds.
The Labour Party member also maintained that evidence exists to support his claims, including what he described as account details and records from meetings held during the campaign period. His remarks add to a series of allegations he has made concerning the management of the party’s affairs and campaign finances during the 2023 general election……See More
