At Age 8 In 1977, I Joined My Dad’s Sponsored Kokoro Aye Group For My First Stage Role -Femi Fadeyi

Femi Fadeyi has disclosed that he began his acting career at the tender age of eight in 1977 when his father’s theater group invited him to perform on stage. He explained that his father owned a cinema called Fadeyi Cinema from 1976 and was a patron of the Kokoro Aye theater group, which featured prominent actors like Iye Labule.

During the interview on Talk-to-B, Fadeyi recalled how the group members noticed his enthusiasm and invited him to join them on stage. He stated that despite being very young, he was not intimidated by the crowd and successfully delivered his lines, which earned him applause and laughter from the audience. This early experience planted the seed of acting in his heart and motivated him to continue with the theater group.

Femi Fadeyi said: “My dad was a lover of theater practitioners too because he was actually sponsoring a group then called Kokoro Aye group. All these Iya Labule people were among them. So most times when they came for stage shows in our hall, they would say, ‘Come, join us, join us.’ I was very small. So that was around 1977. They said, ‘We are going to rehearse now, come and act with us.’ That was my first attempt. When I got to the stage, I did not even care about the crowd. The line he gave me was ringing in my head.
