Apostle Dr. Eucharia Anunobi is now a global Nollywood figure, but she still remembers when her own father dismissed her as a “girl child” not worth further investment. In her Honest Bunch interview, she recounted how her decision to pursue her own academic path led her father to withdraw his financial support. He questioned what legacy a girl would leave, insisting she would only end up married and carrying another man’s name.

According to her, the conflict did not start in university; it had been building since secondary school. When she persisted in following her convictions instead of his fixed script for her life, he decided he was “no longer interested” in her education. That harsh judgment forced her to fend for herself at a young age and proved how deeply some families underestimated the potential of their daughters.

The actress said that phase was painful but ultimately pushed her into independence and self-belief. The same father who cut her off would later bless her with powerful prophetic words after seeing what she made of her life. Her story, she added, is a warning to parents who still rate sons above daughters and see girl-child education as a waste.

Apostle Dr. Eucharia Anunobi said: “From even secondary school, my father had started saying he was not interested in my education. As a matter of fact, he said, ‘What is even a girl child?
