According to a report by Daily Post on Monday, July 6, 2026, Rev. Ezekiel Dachomo, a cleric of the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN) serving in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State, has made startling claims regarding the recent withdrawal of United States troops from Nigeria.
While addressing members of his congregation during a church sermon, the cleric alleged that the decision by the American military to pull out of the country was linked to serious security concerns involving insurgent groups.
According to Rev. Dachomo, the activities of Boko Haram and the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) have reached an alarming level, claiming that the groups have established strategic positions within the Nigerian Army.
He maintained that the situation has created significant challenges for the country’s security architecture, making the operating environment increasingly dangerous.
The cleric made the remarks while preaching to worshippers, where he discussed the security situation in Nigeria and its implications.
He suggested that the alleged infiltration of the nation’s security system by insurgent elements had contributed to growing concerns about the safety of both local and foreign military personnel involved in security operations across the country.
His comments came in the wake of the recent announcement by the United States that it would withdraw its military personnel who had been deployed in Nigeria as part of a joint counterterrorism mission.
The deployment had been aimed at supporting efforts to combat terrorist activities and strengthen security cooperation between both countries in the fight against insurgency.
Rev. Dachomo argued that the withdrawal of the American troops should not be viewed as an ordinary military decision.
He claimed that the security risks faced by the foreign soldiers had become severe due to what he described as the influence of Boko Haram and ISWAP within critical areas of Nigeria’s security structure.
While addressing his congregation, the cleric insisted that the situation posed a major threat to national security.
He maintained that the alleged presence of insurgent elements in strategic positions had created an environment where even international military personnel could no longer operate safely, according to his remarks during the sermon.
He said, “Let me tell you, do you know why America left? Listen, American soldiers’ lives were in danger because Boko Haram and ISWAP have taken strategic positions in the Nigeria Army and the security of the country…..See More
