Kehinde Akintola, a witness, has stated that bandits disguised themselves before abducting students from a school in Ahoro-Esiele community of Oriire LGA, Oyo State, on May 16, 2025
In an interview with News Central TV, Akintola said that when the bandits arrived at the school, one of the teachers thought they were education invigilators. According to Akintola, the teacher even asked some students to greet them before noticing the guns they were carrying
Akintola said when the bandits began shooting sporadically, students and staff began running for safety. She added that one teacher attempted to flee through a window but was shot
In Akintola’s words: “They wore army camouflage. Teachers thought they were education invigilators because they usually come in once in a while to see the school. One of the teachers told the students to come and greet the visitors, only to see guns and gunshots started”
