According to a report by Punch Newspapers on Sunday, June 7, 2026, former Secretary to the Government of the Federation Babachir Lawal has dismissed criticisms directed at him following his recent resignation from the African Democratic Congress, insisting that those attacking him are uncomfortable with his opposition to what he described as a hidden agenda.
Lawal made the remarks while responding to reactions trailing his political position and his decision to sever ties with the African Democratic Congress, maintaining that he remains committed to speaking out on issues he believes are important to the country and challenging narratives he considers harmful.
“They are angry because I want to scatter their jihadist plot. They should ask Bola Tinubu about me. Who are they?”
The former SGF said his comments were being misinterpreted by opponents who are unhappy with his views, adding that his interventions are motivated by his convictions and his desire to ensure that national issues are openly discussed without intimidation or pressure from political interests.
