I Walked To Ilejemeje And Saw The Reason Why People Can Easily Be Picked, No Police Station -Oluyede

Dr. Oluwole Oluyede, the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti State, has raised concerns over the security situation in parts of the state, attributing the vulnerability of some communities to the absence of adequate policing infrastructure.

Speaking during an interview on Arise News, Oluyede said his firsthand assessment of communities in Ilejemeje Local Government Area revealed glaring security gaps that could expose residents to criminal activities, including kidnapping and bandit attacks.

The PDP candidate recounted a visit to the area, where he observed what he described as a near-total absence of functional security facilities and personnel. According to him, the lack of properly manned police posts and stations has left residents exposed and made it easier for criminals to operate.

“I walked to Ilejemeje and I saw the reasons why these people can easily be picked. There are no police posts that’s manned. There are no police stations,” Oluyede said during the interview.

He argued that strengthening security architecture at the grassroots level should be a priority for government, particularly in rural communities that often experience delayed security responses due to inadequate infrastructure.

Oluyede noted that the safety of residents cannot be guaranteed without visible law enforcement presence, stressing that communities lacking police stations and personnel are more susceptible to attacks and other forms of criminality. He maintained that addressing such challenges requires deliberate investment in security facilities and improved deployment of officers across remote areas.
