Former presidential spokesperson Laolu Akande has strongly criticized former Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose for what he described as irresponsible political conduct regarding the security challenges facing Oyo State.
Speaking during an interview on Channels Television on Thursday, June 4, 2026, Akande expressed disappointment over Fayose’s decision to publicly blame the Oyo State Governor for the insecurity concerns in the state.
According to him, politicians should be careful not to exploit sensitive security matters for political advantage, especially at a time when collective efforts are needed to address the challenges.
Akande argued that security issues are often complex and require cooperation among various levels of government and security agencies. He suggested that placing the blame solely on a governor without considering the broader factors involved was unfair and unhelpful.
During the interview, Akande did not hide his frustration with Fayose’s remarks. He said, “Look at the games that some of the politicians are even playing, look at the irresponsible and rascally behavior of Ayo Fayose, calling out the Oyo State Governor saying that he’s responsible for what is happening in the state.”
The former presidential aide maintained that political leaders should focus on supporting efforts to improve security rather than engaging in public attacks that could deepen divisions or distract from solutions. He emphasized that insecurity remains a national challenge that requires serious discussion and coordinated action rather than political point-scoring.
Akande’s comments have since sparked conversations among political observers, with many debating the role of politicians in addressing security concerns and whether public criticism of state leaders contributes to finding lasting solutions…..See More
