Popular Nigerian preacher Joshua Iginla has sparked debate online after cautioning Nigerians against relocating abroad without proper planning, warning that many people underestimate the realities of life outside the country.
Speaking during a recent sermon, Iginla acknowledged the country’s economic difficulties but insisted that Nigeria still offers opportunities for survival and growth. According to him, many young Nigerians are rushing to “japa” by selling family properties and traveling on visiting visas without a clear plan for employment or residency.
“If abroad happened to you, you will understand that money does not just fall from heaven there,” he said while recounting experiences from his travels across Europe.
The cleric argued that some Nigerians spend as much as ₦50 million pursuing foreign education or relocation opportunities that may not guarantee employment after graduation. He advised youths to consider investing such funds in businesses or ventures within Nigeria instead of depending entirely on migration.
Iginla also warned against illegal migration and overstaying visas, noting that undocumented migrants often struggle to secure jobs abroad and may become vulnerable to crime, exploitation, or trafficking. He particularly cautioned young women against offers promising free travel abroad, alleging that some eventually become victims of prostitution rings and sex trafficking networks.
Drawing from a personal experience in France with his son, the preacher described the emotional and financial uncertainty migrants may face when they arrive in countries where they have no relatives or support system.
While stressing that he was not against relocation, Iginla urged Nigerians to “use wisdom” and avoid what he described as “stupid japa that can japa your destiny.”………See More
