In a recent interview on Symfoni TV, Peter Ameh, former Chairman of the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC), spoke on Nigeria’s evolving opposition politics, coalition dynamics, and the growing influence of Peter Obi ahead of the 2027 general elections.
During the interview, Ameh stated, “They are collecting Peter Obi’s property in Lagos, but he is not fighting back.” He made the remark while discussing what he described as the legal and political pressures faced by key opposition figures in Nigeria’s political space.
Ameh argued that despite ongoing controversies and political tensions, Peter Obi has continued to maintain a calm and law-abiding approach in handling disputes, choosing legal channels over public confrontation or aggressive political responses.
He noted that Obi’s style of leadership has continued to attract both support and criticism, especially among political actors who interpret his restraint differently within Nigeria’s highly competitive political environment.
According to Ameh, Obi’s influence remains significant due to his strong appeal among young voters and his consistent focus on issues such as governance reform, accountability, and economic management, which he said have kept him at the centre of national political discussions.
He further explained that the opposition landscape remains fragmented, with shifting alliances and coalition movements shaping how political actors position themselves ahead of 2027.
Ameh maintained that these developments highlight the broader challenges of building unity within opposition parties, where legal disputes, internal disagreements, and leadership contests often affect cohesion.
He concluded by stating that as the 2027 elections approach, political attention will continue to focus on how major figures like Peter Obi navigate legal, political, and organisational pressures while sustaining their relevance in Nigeria’s evolving democratic space…….See More
