Abayomi Arabambi, a chieftain of the Labour Party, has vigorously challenged the dominant narrative surrounding Peter Obi’s alleged exit from the party during a recent interview on News Central TV.
He outrightly debunked claims that Peter Obi formally resigned, throwing a direct challenge to his interviewers and the public alike.
“Peter Obi did not resign. Please, can any of you produce a video or clip showing the moment he resigned from the Labour Party? No television station has any such record,” Arabambi asserted emphatically.
To drive his point home, he drew a sharp contrast with several high-profile politicians whose departures from their parties were public, dramatic, and well-documented on camera. He specifically referenced Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, the former Governor of Sokoto State, Atiku Abubakar, and Rotimi Amaechi, all of whom made their exits visibly and officially known.
Arabambi then offered a colourful and insightful metaphor to characterise Obi’s distinctive political style:
“Obi is like a political mascot who covers his head — you won’t even realise it’s him moving.”
