Akande: I Am Very Disappointed At The Level That Mr Amupitan Will Go To Keep His Job

Laolu Akande, during an interview on Channels Television on Thursday, April 16, 2026, expressed strong disappointment over what he described as the extent to which Mr. Amupitan is allegedly going in order to retain his position as INEC Chairman.

He suggested that the situation raises concerns about integrity and the conduct expected from someone occupying such a sensitive national office. Akande’s remarks were framed as a critique of the perceived compromises being made in the pursuit of job security at the top of the electoral body.

Speaking further during the interview, Akande did not hold back in his assessment of the situation, stressing his dissatisfaction with the alleged actions of the INEC Chairman.
