Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has spoken about his past relationship with former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, revealing that his opinion of Atiku changed after they served together in government.
Speaking during an interview aired by Arise Television Obasanjo reflected on why he chose Atiku as his running mate and how their working relationship evolved over the years. He explained that although they later had disagreements, he never allowed their differences to distract him from leading the country.
According to Obasanjo, what he came to know about Atiku after they assumed office made him grateful that he remained focused on Nigeria despite the challenges he faced.
“I don’t know what name you want to give him. I mean that. It’s true. But of course, what I know about him later makes me thank God because God did not allow his actions and reactions to overwhelm me or to divert my own focus from Nigeria or to harm Nigeria,” he said.
The former president also stressed that he holds no resentment toward his former deputy, noting that everyone acted according to their convictions while he remained committed to his responsibilities as president.
“And then, there’s no bitterness because, well, he did things that he believed he should do, and God did the things that God had to do, which made me to be able to achieve what I was able to achieve,” Obasanjo added……See More
