During an interview on Arise Television on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, the senator representing Borno South, Ali Ndume, said he investigated the background of Samaila Kaigama, president of the Borno South Youth Alliance, after the allegations made against him, revealing that Kaigama’s father allegedly distanced himself from his son’s activities.
Ndume explained that his inquiries led him to discover that Kaigama is the son of a longtime friend, whom he described as a lawyer he has known for more than four decades. The senator said he contacted Kaigama’s father while trying to understand the circumstances surrounding the controversy and was surprised by the response he received.
According to him, “I tried to trace his background, and coincidentally he’s even a son of my friend, and his father is a lawyer and has been my friend for 40 years or more. When I spoke to his father, his father said he doesn’t consider him any longer as his son because he has gone into certain business.”
The senator maintained that he would continue to pursue the defamation aspect of the case separately while leaving security agencies to handle issues relating to national security.
Ndume said the ongoing dispute has moved beyond a personal matter and should be treated as a national security issue. He reiterated that he has already informed relevant security agencies about the allegations and expressed confidence that the authorities would investigate the matter…….See More
