Media aide to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Administration, Lere Olayinka, has shared a video on social media showing a man identified as a self-acclaimed traditionalist allegedly making threats against Seyi Tinubu, the son of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
According to Olayinka, the man recorded and uploaded a video in which he allegedly vowed to kill Seyi Tinubu if President Tinubu secures a second term in the 2027 presidential election.
Reacting to the development, Olayinka condemned the alleged threat and drew attention to the manner in which the video was recorded and circulated online.
According to him, “He sets ring light. He sets camera. He records himself saying that he will kill Seyi Tinubu, the President’s son. He then posted the video on social media.”
Olayinka said the circumstances surrounding the recording suggested that the individual deliberately planned and published the video rather than making a spontaneous remark. He argued that the use of recording equipment and the decision to upload the clip to social media indicated that the alleged threat was made intentionally and was meant for public consumption.
The media aide also questioned the reaction he believes would follow if security agencies decided to take action against the suspect.
In his words, “When he is arrested now, some Human Rice and Beans Cashtivists will be jumping up and down.”
Olayinka maintained that threats directed at any individual, regardless of political affiliation, should be treated seriously by law enforcement agencies and addressed within the provisions of the law.
