Chidi Odinkalu, a renowned human rights activist and former chairman of the national human rights commission has taken to his official X handle to react after a mammoth crowd was spotted at the burial of the late general Rabe Abubakar in Katsina State.
According to the statements which were shared on his official X handle, he pointed out that the absence of representatives of president Tinubu, Governor Dikko Umar Radda and the national security adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu was unacceptable.
General Rabe Abubakar, it can be recalled, tragically lost his life while in captivity, with several attempts to rescue him by family members and security agencies failing due to uncertain circumstances.
However, in a surprising turn of events, his deceased body was released by his captors for burial, an act which had triggered massive public debate regarding the motives behind his abduction.
During his funeral in Katsina State, a mammoth crowd converged to pay their last respect to the departed former military spokesman, indicating the enormous influence wielded while in active service.
In light of this, Chidi Odinkalu, widely known for his candid opinions, in his statements, made it known that the absence of representatives from the federal and state government was a disservice to the late General Rabe Abubakar and his family.
