Fresh political tensions have continued to trail the emergence of Peter Obi as the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.
During an interview on Arise TV, Abayomi Arabambi, the factional Labour Party National Vice Chairman (South West), issued a stern warning to the former Anambra State governor, insisting that Obi should expect fierce opposition from some stakeholders within the Labour Party.
He maintained that some members of the Labour Party would challenge Obi politically and insisted that the consequences of the former presidential candidate’s actions within the party would eventually catch up with him.
Arabambi further questioned Obi’s integrity and argued that he should not be entrusted with Nigeria’s presidency. According to him, allowing Obi to become president would amount to legitimizing corruption.
Arabambi insisted that the former Anambra State governor was fully aware of his role in the events that contributed to the crisis within the Labour Party.
“He (Peter Obi) is going to have a very hot battle now that he has emerged. He is going to have a very hot battle with some of us from the Labour Party. The law of retribution will definitely come.
