In a recent interview on Channels Television, Tonye Cole, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State, spoke during a live discussion where he addressed leadership concerns, party structure, and the evolving political dynamics in the state ahead of the 2027 elections.
During the interview, Cole stated, “Fubara is no longer showing the leadership qualities he needs to lead the APC in Rivers State.” He used the statement to question the current direction of leadership and the effectiveness of political coordination within the state.
He referenced Siminalayi Fubara, noting that leadership within a political party requires consistency, inclusiveness, and the ability to unify different factions under a common vision.
Cole argued that the situation in Rivers State reflects deeper structural challenges, particularly the existence of parallel interests and competing loyalties that have complicated party cohesion. According to him, effective leadership must rise above factional divides and ensure that all stakeholders feel represented.
He suggested that political leadership is not only about holding office but also about demonstrating the capacity to manage conflicts, build trust, and maintain a clear direction for party members and supporters.
The APC chieftain also emphasized that internal democracy and consultation are critical in sustaining party strength, warning that any perceived exclusion or imbalance could weaken the party’s overall influence in future elections.
Cole further stated that political success depends on organization, grassroots engagement, and the ability to inspire confidence among party faithful and the electorate.
