According to a report from Arise TV on Saturday, May 23, Former Minister of Transportation and ex-Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi, has shared a deeply personal revelation regarding the aftermath of his defeat at the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential primary. In a candid interview on Arise TV, Amaechi disclosed that the loss to President Bola Tinubu sparked a spiritual crisis that temporarily altered his relationship with God.
Amaechi clarified that his reaction to the defeat was not one of personal sorrow, but rather profound concern for the nation. Instead of mourning his own loss, he found himself grappling with the persistent hardships faced by Nigerians. This disillusionment led him to a point of spiritual paralysis, where he began to question why, despite the collective prayers of citizens, the country’s struggles seemed endless.
The former minister admitted that this internal turmoil caused him to withdraw from his regular prayer sessions with his spiritual director. “I began to ask God, ‘God, do you honestly believe that Nigerians should continue to suffer?’ And then it affected my faith a bit,” Amaechi confessed during the interview.
