Salihu Lukman, a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has expressed frustration over the opposition’s approach to the 2027 general election, saying he strongly desires the defeat of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu but is dissatisfied with the current strategy being adopted.
Speaking during an interview on Arise News on Friday, July 31, 2026, Lukman said his position against the APC was not in doubt, stressing that his disappointment stemmed from the manner in which opposition politicians were pursuing the objective of unseating the ruling party.
Emphasising his personal conviction, Lukman declared, “Look, as a person, I don’t have any restraint. I want APC and president Asiwaju defeated out of government in 2027 but the way we are going about it, I’m frustrated.”
The former APC National Vice Chairman (North-West) noted that while many opposition figures share the goal of challenging the ruling party, success would depend on adopting a more organised, disciplined and people-focused strategy rather than relying on political calculations alone.
