Bandits & Kidnappers Have Found A Conducive Environment, But Govt Is Trying To Stifle Them Out -Usman

Brigadier General Sani Kukasheka Usman (Rtd), the former Director of Army Public Relations, Nigerian Army, said bandits and terrorists have benefited from conducive conditions, stressing government efforts should deny them operational freedom through stronger security measures across Nigeria.

According to a video posted on the official YouTube channel of Arise News while discussing Nigeria’s security situation, Usman explained why stronger military actions remained necessary against criminal groups operating across affected regions.

He argued that persistent insecurity had allowed armed groups to exploit vulnerable communities and difficult terrain, making coordinated security responses increasingly important for protecting lives, restoring confidence, and improving public safety across the country over the long term.

During the interview, he stated, “the bandits and kidnappers have found a conducive environment, and with this, I can see that the government is trying to stifle them,” while discussing ongoing security operations across affected parts of Nigeria.

He maintained that increasing military presence could restrict criminal movements and reduce their ability to operate freely, provided operational planning, logistics, intelligence sharing, and sustained support remained consistent across affected areas over time through coordinated government efforts nationwide.

Usman also stressed that lasting security required stronger policing, improved intelligence, effective collaboration among security agencies, and continued investment in personnel, equipment, technology, training, while supporting wider governance reforms to address underlying causes of insecurity nationwide effectively together.
