If You Come To Rivers State Today, There’s Nothing Going On; Everything Is At A Standstill -Briggs

During an interview on News Central TV on Thursday, July 23, 2026, Ann-Kio Briggs, a human rights activist, expressed concern over the political and economic situation in Rivers State, saying the ongoing political crisis has affected governance and business activities.

Speaking during the interview, Briggs said many aspects of life in the state have ground to a halt, arguing that while political activities continue, ordinary residents are bearing the consequences. She maintained that economic activity has slowed significantly and that many people are struggling as a result.

According to her, “If you come to Rivers State today, there is absolutely nothing that you can say that is going on. It’s like everything is at a standstill for certain people, certain politicians, but definitely for the people of Rivers State, everything is at a standstill. There is no money going around. There is no business that is really functioning.

Briggs said the situation was unfortunate for residents of the state, warning that Rivers State could lose even more after the 2027 elections if political interests continue to take precedence over governance and the welfare of the people…..See More
