Olumuyiwa Ayodeji has stated that he was arrested for armed robbery in 2010 and spent 15 years in prison for the crime.
In an interview with Nevon HQ, Ayodeji said he was a Christian when he entered prison. However, he stated that he later converted to Islam while awaiting trial.
Ayodeji said his fellow inmate, a Boko Haram member, taught him Arabic language. He added that he practiced Islam for six years before converting to Christianity.
In Ayodeji’s words: “I was a Christian when I entered into the confinement but I converted to Islam. I practiced Islam for 6 years of my awaiting trial. But he (Deputy Comptroller of Corrections) chose to be calling me pastor because he knew I was a Christian before I came in.
