Jesus Never Said I Should Mention His Name In The Songs I Sing, He Never Asked For PR -Sola Allyson

Popular Nigerian singer Sola Allyson has once again addressed public criticism surrounding her choice of lyrics, clarifying her stance on why she does not consistently mention the name of Jesus in her songs.

Speaking in an interview with Oyinmomo TV, Allyson explained that her artistic expression is guided by understanding, conviction and the core principles of faith rather than repetitive religious jargon.

Her comments come months after she was heavily criticised on social media for not explicitly using the name “Jesus” in her music. The backlash intensified following the widespread discussion generated by Dr. Panam Percy Paul’s disclosure that he once turned down a multimillion-pound offer to retain Jesus’ name in his songs.

In response, Allyson expressed deep frustration over what she described as unkind and bullying behaviour from some self-acclaimed devout listeners who questioned her devotion.

Allyson wrote on X (formerly twitter) at that time: “Why are you people this callous and unkind? If this is what you are with your own Jesus, I don’t want to be identified with you lots! Why must I be like your fathers and mothers before you see what I am? Did I ask to be a part of you? Am I not walking my own journey and getting ahead in it? In her interview with Oyinmomo TV, she further clarified that her understanding of faith places emphasis on living out the values taught rather than performing publicity for spiritual figures.

She argued that belief should be reflected in actions and obedience, not merely in verbal repetition.

Allyson reassured listeners that although her songs may not always employ conventional religious expressions, they remain anchored in meaningful messages that uplift, guide and inspire.

Her words: “Jesus never said I should mention his name in the songs I sing. He never asked us to do PR for him. He said we should believe in his Father in heaven and also believe in him too.”

“So, what is this belief he is talking about? It simply means following the commandments he gave us. Jesus even said, ‘Many people call me Lord, but yet I don’t recognize them as sons,” she added……See More
