Yoruba Nollywood actor and comedian Kehinde Ganiyu, popularly known as Ijoba Lande, has shared a surprising story about his early school days.
Speaking in an interview with fellow actor Jeff Omolewa on his official YouTube channel, Ijoba Lande explained that he consistently performed well academically from Primary Three.
According to the actor, he regularly took first position in his class and was regarded as one of the brightest pupils in his set.He further revealed that while in Primary Five, he emerged first in his class during the common entrance examination. His strong results throughout primary school eventually earned him admission into junior secondary school.
However, his academic journey took an unexpected turn when he moved to Ilesha to live with his elder brother, who worked as a mechanic. Despite his impressive school record, his brother soon discovered that he could not properly spell his own name, Kehinde Ganiyu.
The discovery raised serious concerns about the foundation of his education. Determined to address the issue, his brother arranged for him to transfer to another school in hopes of improving his academic abilities.
Unfortunately, the move exposed deeper learning challenges. At the new school, he struggled to keep up with his classmates, and his performance declined sharply.
As a result, he was demoted from Junior Secondary School Two back to Primary Five, marking a difficult period in his educational journey.
In his words: “When I took the common entrance examination, I came first in my class. This had been the case since I was in Primary Three. After that, I gained admission into junior secondary school before I went to live with my mechanic brother in Ilesha.
