Popular Nollywood actress Blessing Obasi-Nze has shared a heartwarming story from her early career days, highlighting her husband’s supportive reaction when she landed a major role that paid significantly more than his earnings at the time.
Speaking in an interview with media personality Morayo Afolabi-Brown, Obasi-Nze recounted the moment in 2017 when she secured a gig on the hit series Castle & Castle.
The role came with a paycheck of N600,000, a breakthrough she had prayed for intensely. Overjoyed, she cried tears of excitement before sharing the news with her husband.
The actress explained that the revelation wasn’t impulsive; it settled in gradually.
At the time, her husband’s highest pay had been around N100,000, meaning her new earnings were six times his. Despite the disparity, his response was filled with genuine pride and encouragement rather than envy or insecurity.
In her words: “Something had happened one day, very early, when I wasn’t popular. I’d gotten a gig that I had been praying for for so long. This was like 2017. It was Castle and Castle. At the time, they had offered me N600,000 as my pay, and I was really excited. You know, I cried and all that. And then when I broke the news to him, the news settled in. So it wasn’t a spot-of-the-moment thing; it settled in.”
“I remember he looked at me, held my hands, prayed for me, and said to me, ‘You are a star. This is just the beginning.’ He said so many things. He spoke the seed of greatness in me that day. Mind you, at the time, I think his highest pay then was about N100,000. This was going to be more than he had ever collected. But he prayed for me from his heart and blessed me,” she added……See More
