Yoruba Nollywood actress Omobolarinde Akinyanju, popularly known as Ashabi Simple, has recounted a personal health scare during her marriage to Nigerian singer Habeeb Okikiola Badmus, popularly known as Portable.
Speaking in an interview with Oyinmomo TV, she disclosed that rumours regarding her husband’s past relationships prompted her to take precautionary health measures, including an HIV test.
Akinyanju explained that the decision to undergo testing was motivated by fear and concern for her own wellbeing.
She recounted how circulating information about Portable allegedly being involved with someone who was HIV positive abroad caused her considerable anxiety.
Though she expressed love and respect for her then-husband, the actress said the uncertainty surrounding these claims compelled her to seek clarity and reassurance through medical examinations.
The actress described the period as emotionally challenging, noting that it coincided with a time of tension in their relationship. She admitted that minor disagreements had escalated, leading to confusion and heightened stress.
In response to the rumours, Akinyanju decided to visit a hospital to carry out a series of medical tests, ensuring her health was not at risk.
During the course of the tests, Akinyanju experienced an unexpected turn in her personal life. She revealed that she discovered she was pregnant with Portable’s child.
She said: “After the first interview I did, that caused a fight between us, where I said, “If Okiki did not kiss me, I can cry,” which made him (Portable) call me out at that time. I wanted to end the relationship. Although I love him, I was upset with him at that time because I hadn’t experienced such before. So, I went to do some tests.”
“I even did an HIV test because people told me that he slept with someone who was infected with HIV abroad. The message about him contracting HIV got me so scared that I had to go and run a series of tests at the hospital.
