Prince Adewole Adebayo, the presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party, has said President Bola Tinubu is wasting his time and wasting the time of the people, adding that the president needs to do some things that are easier to do.
In an interview with Channels Television, Adebayo said this while arguing that there is no macroeconomy looking good and the government must tweak its policies. He said the government suffers from three problems it can address before the election.
He stated that the Tinubu administration does not know what policies will have the greatest multiplier effect for the greatest number of people. He noted that with 47 percent of Nigerians unemployed, Nigeria has the worst inflation in the sub-region and the developing world, and there are uncontrolled deficits; the numbers cannot be hidden because economics exposes lies.
Adebayo stressed that the macro cannot be good if the micro is not working after 18 months. He urged the president to be more honest, ensure government money goes to government accounts, implement budgets properly, and make budgets work in each sector.
He said domestic debts should be paid to free money for the private sector to employ people and that low-hanging promises must be kept. He warned that if those promises are not kept, no amount of litigation against opposition will matter because people will remember they were not served well.
